Title: Freed from Bondage
Text: Luke 13:10-17

Bondage. There is a lot of it today. People are suffering from all types of bondage: sickness, addiction, financial woes, mental illness, etc. There is also a bondage that comes from religion. Some are hypocrites and legalists. Some are bound by religious rules and do not enjoy the freedom that comes from a relationship with Christ (Galatians 5:1).

All of this boils down to the bondage of sin. The Apostle Paul described it in Romans 6:14-23 and said straightforwardly that we are not slaves of sin but have been set free. He concluded, “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life” (6:22).
 
Today in our study of Luke, we come to a passage where we meet two people who are in bondage. Their bondage was quite different from each other’s, but for both, Jesus is the doorway to their freedom.
